About
Las palmeras is a setting of the evocative text of Venezuelan poet Pamela Rahn Sánchez. The poem explores the sudden, emotional recognition of one's surroundings. The song depicts palm trees not as distant ornaments, but as heavy, shadow-casting anchors of "home." Written for Laura Strickling, while she was living in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the music mirrors the poem’s shift from oblivious routine to a sharp, tearful awareness of the "sharp green against the blue sky"—a landscape that was always there, waiting to be seen.
