Tienda tells the story of a musician-shopkeeper in St. Paul whose grocery store becomes a sanctuary for a community grappling with displacement and the search for home. Set against the mass Mexican repatriations of the 1930s, the opera  shows that we the USA has always struggled to figure out whose home this is.
